One word of advice for new driveway owners: Do not let your driveway go more than 1 year after it is paved without proper maintenance and protection! Having your year old driveway sealed is the best way to insure your investment.
Once a newly paved driveway is exposed to the elements, the surface turns grey as the binder (black glue) wears away. Once the aggregate (rocks) are exposed, water can now easily permeate the surface and start making it’s way though the driveway surface, towards the sub base.
Once water reaches the sub base it starts to shorten the life of driveway.
